About Heatra
HEATRA is built with a clear intention: to create outdoor saunas that perform reliably over time, not just look good on day one. Every design and construction choice is made with long-term use, stability, and comfort in mind.
From heat and airflow to materials, structure, and everyday use, Heatra is designed by considering what a sauna should truly be — a balanced space for warmth, recovery, and calm. Rather than mass production, HEATRA follows a structured, hands-on building approach, allowing each sauna to be assembled with attention to detail while maintaining consistent quality across all models.
Materials
HEATRA is built using carefully selected materials chosen for durability, stability, and suitability for outdoor sauna use. Every material is selected based on how it performs over time, not just how it looks when new.
All HEATRA saunas are built with thermally treated wood (thermowood) as standard for exterior surfaces. The wood is heat-treated at 212–225°C, a process that significantly improves stability, weather resistance, and longevity in outdoor environments. Interior surfaces are finished with aspen or thermo aspen, chosen for comfort, low heat conductivity, and a natural, calm feel. All materials are sourced from established Nordic and European suppliers and selected to perform reliably in changing climates.
Construction
HEATRA saunas are built using traditional Scandinavian frame construction, a proven method known for structural stability and long-term reliability. This approach allows the sauna to remain solid and balanced over time, even when exposed to changing outdoor conditions.
Walls and ceilings are constructed using the same layered principle, ensuring consistent performance throughout the structure. Insulation, vapor control, and breathable exterior membranes work together to manage heat, moisture, and airflow in a controlled way, reducing the risk of condensation and extending the lifespan of the sauna.
The roof, floor, and ventilation are designed as integrated parts of the overall construction rather than isolated components. Each element is chosen and assembled to support proper heat retention, air circulation, and everyday usability, resulting in a sauna that feels comfortable, stable, and predictable to use over time.
